For my senior thesis I made roleplay–game like character sheets, and then gave them to my friends and anyone else who was interested to fill out. I drew the resulting characters, and wrote stories to match. Ultimately the whole thing was collected in a hardbound book.
The aim of this was to explore the ideas of collaborative storytelling and worldbuilding presented in TTRPGs as simply as possible. I was hoping that freed from the commitments of learning rules, rolling dice, scheduling sessions, etc, people could quickly get a real sense of the creativity and self expression that can be generated from these games. What is presented is a conversation between me - the dungeon master, or, designer - and the player filling out the form.
